Vastu Tips for Home: Harmony and Prosperity
What is Vastu Shastra?
Vastu Shastra is an ancient Indian science of architecture and layout. It teaches us how to design and organize our living spaces to harmonize with the natural energies of the five elements—earth, water, fire, air, and space. When a home is in harmony with Vastu, it brings peace, health, and prosperity to the family.
In my Vastu consultations, I have seen how simple adjustments can transform the atmosphere of a home. Here are some basic tips you can apply today.
Entrance and Main Door
- The main entrance should be in the North, East, or North-East direction.
- Keep the entrance well-lit and clean.
- Ensure the door opens smoothly and creates a welcoming feel.
- Place a beautiful Swastik or Om symbol at the entrance.
Living Room
- The living room is a place for socializing. The North-East corner is best for spiritual elements.
- Keep the center of the room clutter-free.
- Family photographs should be displayed on the South or West wall.
- Heavy furniture should be placed in the South-West direction.
Kitchen
- The ideal location for the kitchen is the South-East corner (Agni Kona).
- The person cooking should face East while preparing food.
- Keep the kitchen clean and free of unwanted items.
- Store food and water in the North direction.
Bedroom
- The master bedroom should be in the South-West direction.
- Your head should point towards the South or East when sleeping.
- For single or unmarried people, the North-West direction is suitable.
- Do not place mirrors facing the bed.
Bathroom and Toilet
- The bathroom should be in the North-West or West direction.
- Keep the bathroom clean and free of any leakages.
- Avoid having a bathroom in the center of the home.
Prayer Room (Pooja Ghar)
- The ideal location for a prayer room is the North-East (Ishanya Kona).
- Face East or North while praying.
- Keep the prayer room clean and peaceful.
- Place a Vastu pyramid or yantra in the prayer room to correct Vastu defects.
Vastu Remedies for Existing Home
If you cannot change the layout of your home, do not worry. There are many easy remedies:
- Place a Vastu Pyramid in the North-East direction.
- Keep a Tortoise in the North direction for stability.
- Hang a Swastik at the main entrance.
- Use copper items to balance the fire element.
